ThinJack Announces New Member of Staff

Thursday, Dec 01, 2011

Aberdeenshire-based ThinJack has announced the appointment of a new member of staff to its growing team.

Bob Ure has joined the company in the role of mechanical technician, based at ThinJack’s Westhill headquarters and helping to service the needs of a growing global client base.

Originally from Edinburgh, Bob spent 12 years in the RAF at Kinloss where he was employed as an aircraft mechanical technician, working on Nimrod aircraft in areas such as hydraulics, pneumatics, gas turbine engines and flying control systems.

ThinJack is a millimetric thin steel envelope which can be inflated with 2,500 bar of hydraulic pressure to exert hundreds of tonnes of force, making it the ideal separating and jacking solution in hazardous, difficult or restricted areas.  The bespoke service is primarily used for the rigless separation of seized well flanges.

The company is headed by Guy Bromby and Alastair MacDonald and is based at Arnhall Business Park, Westhill.  ThinJack currently employs six people at Westhill with additional trained field technicians at its overseas bases at Melbourne in Australia,   Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia, Houston in Texas and Luling in Louisiana, USA.

Commenting on his appointment, Bob Ure said: “This is an exciting time to be joining ThinJack because there is so much happening across the company, and I look forward to the challenges my new role will bring.”

ThinJack director Guy Bromby added: “In the short time which Bob has been with us, he has worked offshore separating three seized well flanges with the ThinJack system. We look forward to him playing a significant role in the company’s ongoing operations and growth.”
